El Cerrito dojo times and teacher changed

El Cerrito dojo is going through some changes. First, the Wednesday class is being suspended, but there are plans to relocate the Atarashii naginata class to San Francisco. Second, the Monday class is going to be taken over by Eric Montes, a long-time student of Tanaka sensei. Please show your support for Eric by attending our Tendo Ryu class regularly. Keep an eye open for more announcements once a location for the San Francisco practice is finalized.

We are giving demonstrations and workshops at the Japan Expo next weekend. Here is the schedule of events:

Sunday, Aug. 24
• What: Naginata demonstration

Sad news for USNF members

Miyako Tanaka Price, Naginata Hanshi, passed away the morning of 27 May. This is a very sad day for Naginata people around the world who will greatly miss Tanaka Sensei. We are so very grateful for all her efforts to spread both Atarashi Naginata and Tendo Ryu Naginata-jutsu in America, Canada, and Europe. Her knowledge, wisdom, enthusiasm, and friendship will be sorely missed.

A memorial service will be planned later in the summer.

NCNF Spring Seminar

We will be holding the annual NCNF seminar this April 13 - 14 at San Jose State University. There will be Kyu testing along with the seminar. More details will follow.

INF seminar and USNF championship schedule

All NCNF members are encouraged to attend the INF seminar and USNF championship this June. The events will be held in Renton, Seattle, and will occur on the last week of June, 2013:

• INF Seminar: Wednesday, June 26 - Friday, June 28
• INF Testing: Friday, June 28
• USNF Championship: Saturday, June 29

This is a great opportunity to meet people from around the world, and it is not too far to travel.

Extra practice this Sunday

We will have an extra practice at the El Cerrito Community Center, this Sunday, February 10th from 1:00 to 5:00 pm.
